Our family helping your family since 1908 - Generations of Excellence

Dorothy McCumsey

It is with great sadness that the family of Dorothy McCumsey announce her passing on Sunday February 10, 2019, at the age of 97 years.

She is predeceased by her husband Donald, her father Wasili, her mother Rosie, and her brothers Paul and Alexander Petrovich. She is survived by her three sons, Larry (Sheryl) of Powell River BC, Randy (Christine) of Fort St John BC, Myron of Fort Saskatchewan AB, her granddaughter Riesa and step-granddaughter Nicole of Edmonton AB.

Dorothy was born in Kahwin, Alberta in 1921 and was raised on the Petrovich homestead overlooking the Slave River midway on the old road between Smith and Slave Lake. She would spend the greater part of her life living in this idyllic country setting, by the river, surrounded by the wilds of Northern Alberta that she loved so much. She dedicated her life to her family, always taking care of us, which we lovingly returned to her as she got older and needed our help, especially after the passing of Don, her husband in January of 2013.

No service will be held at this time. A Celebration of Life and interment at Beechmount Cemetery will be held at a later date for family and friends.

In Loving Memory of
Dorothy McCumsey
(Maiden: Petrovich)
