Obituary

Our loving mother, sister, and grandmother, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 years.

Maxine is lovingly remembered by her children Don, Marlene (Dave Perron), Myrna (Larry Lalonde), Bruce (Lisa Morin) and Paul (Pam Parisien); grandchildren Ryan, Thomas (Ashley), James, Kalyn, Matthew (Katie), Patrick, Stephen, and Colleen; her sister Audrey Walsh, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Maxine was predeceased by her husband Harry and parents Gladys (nee Guerard) and Malcolm McKinnon.

Maxine was born in Port Arthur and raised in Fort William, Ontario. As a young girl Maxine was very involved in figure skating and dancing and she eventually took her passion for dance and opened a dance studio in the area. In 1947, she married Harry Lecky and in 1956 when Harry was transferred to Edmonton, Maxine and family left her studio and took up residence in Edmonton. In 1958, she opened a dance studio in her basement and last season the Lecky School of Dance celebrated their 60th year in business. She had led a small basement studio into a thriving business and in 2010, she was honoured to be chosen as a Global Edmonton Woman of Vision. Maxine absolutely loved Loon Lake, Ontario where she spent her summers, first with her parents and sister, and then Harry, family, and grandkids. We would like to give special thanks to the compassionate, caring staff of the Devonshire Care Centre, who cared for Maxine over the past year. Reverend Paul Kavanagh will celebrate a Funeral Mass at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 13th, 2018 at St. Joseph’s Basilica, 10044 – 113 Street, Edmonton.

For those who wish to do so, donations in memory of Maxine may be made to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation, 8215 – 112 Street NW, Edmonton, AB, T6G 2L9.

In Loving Memory of
Maxine Lecky
(Maiden: McKinnon)
