Jeanie Brown

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jeanie after a lengthy battle with ALS. Jeanie will always be remembered for her personal warmth, her ever-present smile, her passion for life and her ability to touch the hearts of those around her. We rejoice knowing that Jeanie is in the arms of her Saviour who will wipe all tears from her eyes.

Jeanie is survived by her loving husband Jim, father Ben Hochhausen, siblings Phil (Fran), Lynne (Rick), Paul (Guylaine) and Mary; stepchildren, Tracy and Trent (Erin), granddaughter, Brooklynn; as well as extended family and many friends. She was predeceased by her mother Mary Hochhausen (nee Stock).

Jeanie was born and attended school in Edmonton, Alberta. After spending five years working in the isolated community of Cassiar, B.C. Jeanie returned to Edmonton where she began a lengthy career in property management. Jeanie and Jim were married on June 2, 1990. Together they started the well-known James H. Brown law firm. Jeanie hired all of the firmís initial support staff, many of which remain employed with the firm today. Jeanie loved music and played the piano, violin and flute. In later years she began playing guitar and singing. Her beautiful voice always left an impression on her audience.

Jeanie had a special talent for homemaking and many guests were blessed with her wonderful home cooked meals. Jeanie loved the sun and was happy in the days prior to her passing to get out in the sunshine. Jeanie was a strong supporter of many charities, including Camp He Ho Ha, The University Hospital Foundation, the ALS Society of Alberta and an orphanage and agriculture training center in northeast India which she visited on several occasions with her husband Jim and her father Ben.

The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Jeanieís caregivers who daily attended to her every need. Your care and compassion is so greatly appreciated.
