Eamon McGee

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Eamon McGee. He leaves behind his children, Ann (Rick), Susan, Brian (Rose), Catherine (Rod), Sean (Donna), and Eamon Jr., along with 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his wife, Rose in 2010.

In 1932, Eamon was born into a large, tight-knit family in Ireland. There he worked on a farm until he moved to Edmonton in 1957. In Edmonton, he worked as a Dragline Operator until his retirement in 2000. Eamon married Rose in 1959; together, they raised their 6 children.

Family was very important to Eamon. He loved his cabin at Calling Lake where he spent summers with his family, building furniture and enjoying time outside with his grandchildren. He also loved to travel back to Ireland to visit family with Rose, maintaining his strong Irish ties.

Eamon will be remembered for his love of animals, as at least one of his many pets were never far from his side. Though he was a quiet man, Eamon enjoyed Irish music, and will also be remembered for his angelic voice as he sang alone.

We hope that Eamon is singing in Heaven, surrounded by his pets and his beloved Rosie.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14, 2018, at St. Andrew Catholic Parish, 12810 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton, with interment to follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Parkinson’s Association of Alberta, 11209 – 86 Street, Edmonton, T5B 3H7.

In Loving Memory of
Eamon McGee
