Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Colin announces his passing on December 3, 2017 at the age of 87.

Colin will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Beryl; children, Bill (Carol), Theresa, Angela (Rob) and Colleen (Phil,); grandchildren, Andy, Julie, Morgan, Rian, Abby, Rory and Jonathan; sisters, Patsy and Jacky.

He is joyfully reunited with his parents, William and Mary and his beloved son, David.

Colin decided to leave Zambia in 1968 and emigrate to Edmonton with Beryl and their four children. He worked as a millwright for Celanese Canada most of his working life and retired in 1990. Colin had an abiding love of sports all his life. In his youth, he was a nationally acclaimed amateur boxer. He was a committed volunteer for the Canadian Track and Field Association, achieving the level of a grade five race starter. He officiated at the Commonwealth Games in 1978, and the Universiade Games in 1983, both hosted by Edmonton. After his retirement, he enjoyed playing tennis with the seniors’ section of Capilano Tennis Club.

Colin lived his life with joy and zest. In his old age, his grandchildren brought him profound joy and their triumphs were his triumphs. He was happiest when one or more were gathered around him, recounting past adventures, celebrating life, and anticipating what the next adventure life might bring.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Resurrection Catholic Parish, 10555 – 50A Street, Edmonton.

For those who so choose, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation - Cross Cancer Institute.

In Loving Memory of
Colin Robertson
