James "Ted" Edward Greenaway

After an exceptional life of 93 years, Dr. J. E. “Ted” Greenaway passed away last week surrounded by family.

Ted was born in Killam, AB in 1924 to Dr. A.C. Greenaway and Agnes (Huston). After growing up in Rocky Mountain House and Lethbridge, Ted joined the RCAF and became a pilot during the Second World War. After the war, he began a lifelong love of driving, becoming a Sorensen Bus Lines driver out of Red Deer, where he met his beloved wife Daphne (MacArthur). Ted later returned to school, and graduated from Dentistry at the University of Alberta in 1960, after which he opened a practice on Stony Plain Road in Edmonton where he treated thousands of patients over the next 45 years. He also volunteered in the same community with the Jasper Place 699 Air Cadet Squadron for over 20 years.

He will be fondly remembered by his brother Garth; sister Sadie; son Ted; daughter Kerry (Rick) and granddaughter Tessa; son Jon (Malanie) and granddaughters Kiera and Dante; daughter Gwendo; and son Guy (Cathy) and granddaughters Molly and Annalisa. At the time of his death, Ted was very much looking forward to rejoining Daphne, his wife for 53 years.

Please join us for a Celebration of Ted's Life on Sunday, November 19, 2017 at 2:00pm at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 – 114 Street NW, Edmonton.
