Obituary

On April 27, 2017, Christian Kangudie of St. Albert, Alberta passed away at the age of 38 years. He was brave to the very end, fighting pain and disease with all the best in him. When it was not enough, he gave his body to his Creator and left his suffering behind.

Christian Kangudie was born in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, on April 18, 1979. Christian is third of six children and is lovingly remembered by siblings Joelle, Michel, Francis, Sarah, and Muriel and his parents, Jean Stefan & Rose. His father and mother pastor a church in Toronto. Christian was given Christian values from his family home, learning how to love God, to love others, and to share.

Christian finished his primary education and some of his secondary studies in Gabon, Africa. He completed his secondary education after moving to Canada in 1995 & in 2000, he graduated from high school at Jean Vanier High School in Thorold, Ontario. He was an intelligent student and very strong in mathematics and science. Christian wanted to study engineering & was accepted into programs at the University of Waterloo and at the University of Toronto. He chose to continue his studies in electrical engineering in Toronto to be closer to his family. He lived with his brothers Michel & Francis and worked two jobs to support the completion of his university education. Upon graduation, he was offered a job as the head of computer systems in Toronto. In 2007, he took the leap and accepted a position in Edmonton, Alberta. Christian was a motivated and dedicated employee that was valued on any team. Teaching himself the JD Edwards management system, he was soon able to start his own business, Keep It Simple Solutions. Through KISS, he provided his services to a range of happy customers around North America, taking contracts in Edmonton, California, and Oklahoma.

In 2009, Christian found his soulmate at a New Year’s party and while things were a wee bumpy at the beginning, soon the arguing turned to kissing and they were happily married on September 5, 2010. Christian and Charissa had many adventures together, including trips to Oregon, California, Mexico, Hawaii, and France. Christian especially enjoyed any occasion where he could beat Charissa at Scrabble. Christian brought his elegance with words and a solid determination to the partnership; in return, Charissa taught him about Christmas and the joys of having a dog in one’s life. Buddy misses him sorely.

Christian was a talented artist. His cartoons were intricate and action filled. As a young boy, he learned drawing from his older brother, and became quite proficient. When he was traveling with the family to Canada, he sold one of his comic books to an agent who published the strip in the local newspaper. He continued to enjoy sketching into his adult life.

Christian had a big heart. He volunteered at many local organizations and was an active presence at several churches. He never missed an opportunity to lend a helping hand. Christian leaves us in the prime of his life, he whom we loved and who loved us with all his strength and helped us as he could so well.

Heaven receives him in his new eternal life.

In Loving Memory of
Christian Kangudie
