Obituary

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Alvina Kathleen Louch (née Simonson) died at Shepherd’s Care Kensington early in the morning on March 26, 2017. She was born October 26, 1919 in Edmonton, but grew up on a farm near Kingman AB. After working a short time at the Royal Bank in Holden AB, Vina was transferred to a branch in Edmonton. Her first husband died in World War II, and she married Kenneth Louch in 1946. Vina was twice widowed: Harold Fuhr in 1944; Kenneth Louch in 1980.

Her life revolved around her family and her friends, especially in the Catholic church. Vina was a strong but quiet woman. Her acceptance of diminished health and life in a longterm care facility over the last 5 years is an inspiration to her family.

Vina’s loss is mourned by her four sons: David (Redemptorist priest), Doug (Donna), Daryl, and John as well as five granddaughters (Tanice, Kenzie & Kelly Louch; Kristina (Pieter) van Keer and Kendra (Jaryd) Baceda) and two great granddaughters (Nikki and Kyra van Keer). She will also be missed by the two of her eight siblings still living: Helen Webb (Kelowna BC) and Bernadine Glansman (Sherwood Park AB).

We are grateful to the staff at Shepherd’s Care Kensington for their attentive care to this good and noble woman.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Alvina will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, March 30, 2017, at St Edmund’s Catholic Church, 13120-116 Street, Edmonton.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shepherd’s Care Foundation, 6620-28 Avenue, Edmonton AB, T6K 2R1.

In Loving Memory of
Alvina Louch
(Maiden: Simonson)
