Our family helping your family since 1908 - Generations of Excellence

Charles Bryan Gillstrom

Bryan passed away peacefully at home with his beloved “Mare” near, and all of his family close by.

From a young age, his father taught him strength and good work ethic. He never missed a day of work, except for one afternoon to have his teeth pulled.

He was born in Regina, Saskatchewan, and it was a promising job with Stelco Steel (where he became Western Canada Transportation Manager) that lead him to Sherwood Park.

He was a man of great strength and pride, but mostly a family man. This was reflected in his one true love, his beloved Mare, Mary Ann, who he celebrated 58 years of “fun and frolic” with this January 3rd. And, as he always said, he never had a bad meal.

He also took pride in his family. He not only provided for us, he gave us memories and laughs to last us all ten lifetimes.

Bryan is survived his wife, Mary Ann; children, Grace Mills and Ernie Devison, Gref and Susan (Kellen and Cameron), Geri and Howard Perkins (Carmen and Brett), Scott (Brianne and great-granddaughter, Abigail), Cara Jay and Brian Georgy; and brothers, Owen, and Roger.

He is predeceased by his father, Charles John; mother, Martha; as well as his sister, June.

His story took its saddest turn when he lost his beloved granddaughter Cara Ann Casey on the 29th of January, 2017. She always took such care of her dear Gramps, and will… for evermore.

He always said “Who has more fun than people”, and that is what he would want us all to do.

We love you and we thank you, Bryan, Dad, Gramps forever and always. “Thanks for the memories” and for doing it your way.

At Bryan’s request, there will be no formal service. A Celebration of his Life will take place in the summer.

Donations can be made toward the Memorial Bench fund in honor of his granddaughter Cara Ann Casey to be placed in their favorite park. (Please make cheques payable to Geri Perkins and forward to Connelly-McKinley).

In Loving Memory of
Charles Bryan Gillstrom
