Our family helping your family since 1908 - Generations of Excellence

Ronald Anderson

Ronald G. Anderson passed away peacefully on December 10th, 2016 at the age of 69. Ron leaves behind his two sons, David and Jonathan (Luella) and grandchildren Evan, Evangelina, and Eren, mother-in-law Rose Ivaschzenko, in-laws Ron & Lydia Hare, Jack and Allyson Senecal, and nephews and nieces, Angela (Cliff), Chandra (Aaron), Jillian (Keith), Trevor, Brandon, and Adrianna. Ron was predeceased by his wife, Valentina, in 2003 and parents Verdun (1992) and Louis (1999).

Ron was born in Edmonton in 1947 and spent his school years at Golden Spike, Edmonton, Leduc, Irma, and finally Hughenden. He attended the University of Alberta graduating with a B.Ed degree in 1970. He began and ended his teaching career at Hughenden Public School. His love for social studies and history was evident and witnessed by many students over his career. He retired in 2002 as the principal of Hughenden Public School. Ron loved Hughenden and the small-town community life that came with it. He was an active member of the Hughenden Lions Club, Hughenden Agricultural Society, Hughenden Golf Course and volunteered for many other community events. He served as Hughenden’s mayor for ten years and enjoyed the many council meetings with his colleagues. Ron was a very social person and volunteering provided him an extended family within the community. Ron’s generosity, wit, and humour will be missed, but wherever he is, we’re sure he’s telling his pals “put it on my tab!”

The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the staff at Touchmark for the kind and compassionate care they provided Ron for the last two years of his life. A Celebration of Ron’s life will be held at the Hughenden Community Hall on Friday, December 16, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. If you wish, memorial donations may be made to one of the Hughenden and area community associations.

In Loving Memory of
Ronald Anderson
