Marie Suzanne Croteau

It is with heartfelt sorrow that we share the passing of Marie Suzanne Croteau (née Côté) on November 12th, 2016, at home surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years Paul Croteau; sister Louise (Robin) Higham; sister-in-law Madeleine (Croteau) Repski; her children Michelle (Jeff) Robinson, Annette Croteau, Philippe (Dawnalee) Croteau, Marc Croteau (Don Scott) and Robert (Teresa) Croteau; grandchildren Claire and Elise Robinson and Robin Croteau (d. 2012); step-grandchildren Laisa and Tevin Ebanks and step-great-grandson Treyson Ebanks.

Suzanne was born in Edmonton in 1938, attended Grandin School and Académie Assomption boarding school. She went on to study nursing in Ottawa at Hôpital Monfort then returned to Edmonton where she met Paul Croteau in the Saint Joachim choir. They were married April 3, 1961. After raising her beautiful family of five, she worked for the Alberta Government then studied culinary arts and pastry making at NAIT. A true entrepreneur, she went on to start her own catering company, Choux Pastries and operated Chez Suzanne B&B through the 90’s. She was instrumental in establishing the Edmonton and Alberta Bed and Breakfast associations.

Suzanne lived a very full 77 years with faith, conviction and love. She enjoyed entertaining and hosting in order to express her culinary talents, and was an avid reader and gardener. Her clear voice illuminated the Columbian and Ste. Anne choirs.

She will be immensely missed. The example she set for those around her is her legacy.

She is predeceased by her parents Paul and Charlotte (Barry) Côté; brother Charles Côté; parents-in-law Robert and Yvonne (Fortin) Croteau: aunts Thérèse (Barry) Lebel and Madeleine (Barry) Got; in-laws Eric and Lorraine (Croteau) Haywood, Len and Pauline (Croteau) Formanski, Roman Repski, and her beloved grandson Robin Croteau.

On Saturday, November 19th, 2016 at 10:30 am, a Mass of Christian Burial for Suzanne will be held at St. Joachim Catholic Church where she was baptised, confirmed and married. For those wishing to attend, visitation will start at 9:30 am. Family members will attend interment following the Mass.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the St. Joachim Renovation Project: envelopes are available at the church or send your donation mentioning Renovation Project to Paroisse St. Joachim, 9928 - 110 Street, Edmonton, AB, T5K 1J3.

The family wishes to thank the NE Palliative Care team, Dr Hamm as well as the GIST Life Raft Group.

In Loving Memory of
Marie Suzanne Croteau
