Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear Husband, Dad, and Grandpa at the age of 82 years.

He leaves to mourn his wife of 52 years, Charlotte; his daughter, Susan Doll, son-in-law, Stacey, grandchildren, Keegan and Austin; daughter, Catherine Loughlean, son-in-law, Michael, grandchildren, Brendan and Alyson Fairfield and step grandchildren, Nathan and Gabriel Loughlean; son, Sean, daughter-in-law, Nathalie, and granddaughter, Aydan; brothers: Oliver (Alice), Tom (Anne), and Jim (Sheilagh) Bartlett and their families; sister-in-law, June Bartlett and family; sister and brothers-in-law: Janet and Wayne Marcotte, Cathy and Peter Harmer, Emily and Paul Bourgeault, and Alison Bourgeault; and many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

He was predeceased by his father, Joseph; mother, Catherine; sisters, Maureen and Josie; and his brother, Joe.

Bart was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland, the middle child of seven. He immigrated to Canada at the age of 23 and went to work on the hydro lines in northern Manitoba and Ontario. He married his love Charlotte after meeting at the Catholic Youth Group of their Parish in Winnipeg, and transitioned his career into the HVAC industry where he worked for JR Stephenson Ltd. in Winnipeg, Regina, Saskatoon, and Edmonton and later for Kehoe Equipment Ltd. in Edmonton. He took great pride and joy in his work, building many lifelong friendships along the way, and gave back to his community through the Kinsmen/K40 Club of Edmonton and to his industry by serving on apprenticeship boards and being involved in different ways with the Mechanical Contractors Association over the years. He loved a hot day, a good round of golf, Saturday morning curling, and his repertoire of jokes. A very faithful Catholic who received healing many times in his life, he enjoyed travelling to the site of the Blessed Virginís appearance at Fatima, Portugal, and prayed the Rosary several times a week with Charlotte at the Grotto of the church. He adored his grandchildren with all his heart, celebrating every little accomplishment, and always reminding them to say their prayers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at St. Albert Catholic Parish Church, 7 St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert, AB.

The family would like to thank Dr. Gourishankar, nurse Rosemary and all the surgeons and staff at the U of A Renal Clinic, Dr. Brisebois at the U of A Emergency, Dr. Dorey at the Royal Alex, Dr. Fairfield and Dr. Brocken from the Grandin Clinic, and the wonderful care of nurses and doctors at the Sturgeon Community Hospital.
