Obituary

On Saturday, January 30, 2016, Dr. Vincent William (Bill) Kadis of Edmonton passed away at the age of 93.

Vincent was born in Lithuania, arrived in Canada in 1948, and graduated from University of Saskatchewan in Chemistry, and received his MSc and Doctorate in Food Biochemistry-Microbiology from Purdue University in Indiana. His distinguished career included work at Purdue University, FAO/UN assignments, Standards Council of Canada, private consultant, and over 35 years as the Food Laboratory Director, Province of Alberta. He served for 30 years as a member of the Canadian delegation to the IDF-FIL International meetings, in various parts of the world, and on numerous committees of that international organization. He served as the National President of the Canadian Institute of Food Science and Technology, and was a member of numerous other scientific organizations.

He is survived by his sister, several nephews, and numerous other relatives and friends in Canada, USA, Australia, and Europe.

He is predeceased by his spouse, Eileen.

At Vince’s request, there will be no service, only a private gathering for the immediate family. Cremation has taken place. Final resting place will be at the Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
