Gustavus Hope

With deepest sorrow we announce the passing of our beloved Gus, who died as he lived, with remarkable strength and courage, surrounded by the love of his family and many close friends.

Gus is survived by his loving wife Jo-Ann (Lukach), their children Alexander and Stefanie, and siblings Margaret (Rick), Kenneth (Bonnie), Moe (Cathy), and Debbie (Keith). He was predeceased by his parents John McIntosh and Edith.

Born and raised in Edmonton, Gus enjoyed a carefree childhood, spending summers at the family lake cabin, roaming the great outdoors. Here he developed a life-long passion for adventure and sport, which he joyfully shared with his family and many friends. Gusí education in business and law, his willingness to embrace change and his steadfast desire to make an impact in the world, led to a varied, accomplished and satisfying career. Gus was a patient teacher, a willing mentor and a loyal friend to so many. Above all he was devoted to Jo-Ann, Alex and Stef and together they shared a beautiful life filled with adventure, laughter and love. For them he was ever present, engaged and devoted.

Throughout his life Gus rarely failed to leave a lasting impression on anyone he met. He nurtured childhood bonds and stayed connected to the many friends he gathered along the journey. He will forever be remembered for his genuine care of people, integrity and unrivalled passion for life. His belief that lifeís journey is about the people who touch us will endure as his legacy.

The family extends sincere gratitude to the remarkable community of friends who supported them on this journey and throughout their lives.
