Arthur Walwyns Mac Arthur

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our father, Arthur Walwyns MacArthur, at the age of 85, on June 23 at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.

He was born in Alliance, Alberta on April 14, 1930 to Lillias and Malcolm (Henderson) MacArthur, and was the youngest of seven children, Edith MacArthur, Gwendolyn Manning (Ed), Malcolm (Pat) , Donald (Lorene), David and Daphne (Ted) Greenaway. He married Doreen (Bernas) MacArthur in Red Deer, Alberta on June 11, 1955. He spent many years in transportation and construction and later became a Sales Executive with Standard General in St. Albert. He joined Housing and Urban Development Association of Canada and served a term as its president. He also found time over the years to supervise and help construct three houses. He loved to golf and curl and participated in both activities right up until his final illness. He will especially be remembered for setting a loving example of care and compassion during the extended hospitalization of his late wife.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Joene (Neil McCulloch) MacArthur, Lorrie MacArthur, James MacArthur and Kimberly (Peter) Karas; his grandchildren: William (Nathalie) White, Alexandra White, Claire McCulloch, Steven Karas, and Daphne Karas; his great-grandchildren: Shai and Reign White; many nieces and nephews and his sister, Edith MacArthur.
