Maximilian Ciesielski



On May 18, 2015, Max Ciesielski, of Edmonton, passed away at the age of 87 years.

Max is lovingly remembered by his family, Max Ciesielski Jr., Tina (Barry) Bucknell, Teresa Soulodre, Doreen (Ted) Myroniuk, Jeannie (Ron) Brochu, Martin (Janice) Ciesielski, Bert Ciesielski (Jewel); daughter-in-law, Kathy Wright; 19 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; special friend, Sylvia Letwin; brother-in-law, Martin Koehmstedt; as well as nieces and nephews in Poland. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Anne; son, Alex; son-in-law, Leo Soulodre; his parents; brothers and sisters in Poland.

Max was born in Warlubie, Poland on September 24, 1927. He served in the Polish Free Forces in World War II. After the war he immigrated to Canada and worked on a farm near Wilkie, Saskatchewan, where he met Anne Koehmstedt. They married in 1951 and settled in Edmonton. Max and Anne established Maxieís Fancy Baking in 1961. The bakery was very successful and in 1995 Max retired and sold the bakery. The family has many warm memories from those years.

Max and Anne enjoyed camping and traveling. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family. Max also enjoyed many years of dedicated service with the Knights of Columbus. He was a Fourth Degree Knight and made many good friends during this time. At various times, he held positions within the KCís, including State Membership Director and State Program Director. He was very passionate about his work with the Knights of Columbus and received many awards for it.

A Prayer Service will be held Friday, May 22, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011-114 Street NW, Edmonton, with Mass of Christian Burial taking place on Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church, 10826-62 Avenue NW, Edmonton.
