Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fred. Left to mourn his loss is Mitzi, the love of his life, married for 63 years; his children and their spouses, Dan, Donna, Kathleen, Martin, Frances, Garrett, Margaret, Kevin and Sandi. Happily remembered by his grandchildren, Sean, Colleen and Brendan Crowe, Jordan and Paula Harris and Clare Jarman; two sisters, Margaret McKinney and Joy Turnbull; sister-in-law, Aletha Crowe and numerous nieces and nephews.
Fred was predeceased by two daughters, Patricia and Maureen; brothers, Frank and Robert and sister, Barbara Jarratt.
Fred joined the navy at age 17 (one of his many yarns is that he won the war single-handedly) and made 44 trips across the Atlantic during his years of service. He married Mitzi in 1947 and they lived a great life raising their family in a fun-filled neighbourhood surrounded by his siblings and their families and wonderful friends. They loved spending their summers at the family cottage on Pigeon Lake, “The Crowesnest”
He enjoyed a long career with Healy Ford Motors until his retirement 23 years ago. Fred will be fondly remembered for his charming personality, his story-telling and his razor sharp wit.
Prayers will be held at St. Michael-Resurrection Catholic Church, 10555 – 50A Street , Edmonton on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. There will be a eulogy at 9:45 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at the same location on Friday, February 18, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the staff at Capital Care Norwood for their tender and compassionate care.
