Obituary

On Thursday, January 1, 2015 John Leonard (Jack) Booth of St. Albert, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family.

He is survived by his children: John (Gwen), Doug, Jim (Shelly), Suzanne (Terry), Danielle (Doug), and Tom (Nanette); grandchildren: Nathan, William, Sarah, Daniel, David, Andrew, Leo, Jonathan, Jack, Kirsten, Michael, and Joe; his niece, Margaret; and nephew, David.

He was predeceased by his parents: Len and Elizabeth; one sister, Georgina; and by his beloved wife, Madeleine in 2012.

Jack was born and went to school in Edmonton. He joined the Canadian Army as a volunteer in 1944 and served his country in the U.K., Belgium and Holland. After his discharge, he attended the University of Alberta where he met his future wife, Madeleine Turcotte and earned his Bachelor of Commerce. He married Madeleine in 1953. Their life together took them to Norman Wells, Edmonton, Calgary, Fort McMurray, Lac La Biche, and finally St. Albert. Dadís priority in life was his family and his life was one of service. He was momís full time caregiver during the years of her illness. His last years were slowed by disability that he faced with the same dignity and patience that marked his final struggle with cancer.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at St. Albert Catholic Parish, 7 St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert, Alberta, with cremation to follow. A private family inurnment will take place at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Albert Cancer Foundation Cross Cancer Institute, 11560 University Avenue NW, Edmonton, Alberta T6G 9Z9 or a Charity of Oneís Choice.
