Annie Grunsky

Mom passed away at 8:42 pm September 30, 2014 at the Grey Nuns Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta. Annie succumbed to complications of kidney cancer (Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma) which she battled bravely since being diagnosed in 2001.

Annie was born June 15, 1942 in Macklin, Saskatchewan. She is survived by her children: Leroy (Johane), Bonny, Myron (Debra) and Lorelei (Larry); grandchildren: Travis (Erica), Nicholas (Cathie), Daniel (Sarah), David (Karynne), Chloé, Nicholle (Andrew), and Chanté; and great grandchildren:, Taylor, Camryn, Mila and Mason; siblings: Angela (Joe), August (Della), Josephine (Edwin), Eugenia (Edwin), Vicky (Leo), Willie (Linda), Leola (Ed), Ida (Joe), Kathy (Ellis) and Steven (Pat). Annie was the middle child of her family.

Annie was predeceased by her husband, Nicholas John Grunsky; parents, John Herman and Katherine Margaret Weinkauf; and beloved grandson, Timothy James.

Mom was dearly loved by her family, we will miss her warm smiles and hugs. We were absolutely blessed to have her as part of our lives as long as we did. Thank you Lord for giving us the gift of Annie, our daughter, sister, mother, grandma, and great grandma.

A meal will never be served where we won't remember the care and love she put into preparing food for her family, and guests. A holiday won't pass where we will forget the lovely decorated home where she displayed the sentiments of love and family in all of her preparations and decorations. A summer day won't go by where we will forget Anne walking amongst the flowers always beautifully presented and enjoying the beautiful day. She was our mom, she will always be our mom...we will always love her...we will never forget...

We will never forget her kindness, or the glint in her eye when she was expressing her numerous stories or jokes, the Weinkauf laugh that would fill the air at the end of her story. She came from a large family where you needed to be the loudest to be heard, but yet had the softest and sweetest presentation. Annie was a lady with empowering inner strength and conviction, independent and graceful... always a lady.

Our hearts are heavy now, they are heavy because we miss Annie (mom) so dearly. Although sad, we are ever grateful to The Lord for bringing his Annie home, ending her suffering.

It is her time now, she is home with her parents John and Katy, Nick and our precious Tim.

In memory of mom, we are asking everyone to please add pink, in some form, to your wardrobe on the day we gather to celebrate her life and say good bye. Pink was her favourite color.

Cremation and interment will follow at a later date at the Camrose Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.

In Loving Memory of
Annie Grunsky
