Our family helping your family since 1908 - Generations of Excellence

Robert Wallace Milligan

It is with deep sadness and shock that the family of Bob announce his sudden passing at the Sturgeon Hospital in St. Albert, Alberta on September 24, 2014.

He leaves to mourn his loss daughter, Melissa; son, Rob and his loving granddaughter, Zoe Kate. Bob also left behind his two sisters, Ellen Fleming and Phyllis Hogg (Samuel) and numerous nieces, great nieces and nephew.

Bob was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia; parents, Robert and Phyllis Milligan and brother, William Grant.

Bob was born in Mannville, AB along with his twin brother. Sisters soon followed. The family later moved to Coronado to a farm in the forties and this farm still remains in the family.

In 1961, Bob married Sylvia Butterworth from Manchester, England. After a short time in Edmonton they built their home in St. Albert. Melissa and Rob grew up in St. Albert both graduating from Paul Kane High School.

In September, 1968, Bob obtained his plumber and pipefitter ticket and belonged to Local 488, working in the Edmonton area and Fort McMurray. In 1986, Bob and Sylvia returned to live at the family farm.

Bob absolutely loved the farm. He loved his land and farm animals, most of whom were named. Bob and Sylvia spent many happy years there. While living there Bob represented Ward 4 as a School Trustee in the Sturgeon County for 12 years. In 2002, tragedy struck when the family lost Sylvia to cancer. Bob remained at the farm until he decided to sell his home yard and move to St. Albert and live with his daughter. They were both so excited making plans for their future. It was not to be. He had only been living there for a few short days before he passed away.

Over the years Bob made many life-long friends. He was well liked for his quick one-liners and making people laugh. He was such a loving father, grandfather and brother.

The Milligan family have lost their patriarch. It will not be the same without him. We will all miss you dearly, Bob. May you rest in perfect peace.

In respect to Bobís wishes, there will not be a service. He has been cremated and the family will have an inurnment at a later date.

For those who wish to make a donation in Bobís memory he had a special love for the Edmonton Humane Society, 13620 163 Street NW, Edmonton, Alberta, T5V 9Z9.

In Loving Memory of
Robert Wallace Milligan
