Anna Byer



It is with great sadness that the family of Anna Byer announces her passing on Sunday, July 20, 2014, at the age of 94 years.

A native of Waskatenau, Alberta, Anna attended the University of Alberta Normal School and taught school during the War years in the Vermilion-Kitscoty area.

In 1946, she married George (predeceased). Together, they built a construction business that operated province-wide.

Over the years, Anna travelled the world, even being in Beijing during the Tiananmen protests.

She is survived by her sister Ruby MacNeil; son Bruce (Rachelle); daughter Eleanor Young; grandchildren, Carl George (Kristy), Alan Joseph (Sachi), Jacqueline Melissa; step granddaughter Lynn (Murray); six great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Anna’s Life will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Connelly-McKinley South Funeral Home, 4820 Meridian Street, Edmonton, with Reverend Ted McKellar officiating. (Meridian Street can only be accessed heading SOUTH on Hwy 216 (Anthony Henday); - the access is 1 km south of the Sherwood Park Freeway on Hwy 216.)

Memorial donation in memory of Anna can be made to a charity of your choice.
