Obituary

Lennart Petersson died peacefully at age 80 after several victories against cancer. He is survived by Joan, Sandra, Tim and Linnea; brother Jan-Erik, sister Ann Sara and their families; and many close, lifelong friends. Born in Sweden, he was the first Canadian to serve as Grand Master of the Vasa Order of America. He also served as President for the Swedish Club North Star, the Scandinavian Studies Association, and the Scandinavian Businessmen's Club. He received many awards including the City of Edmonton Achievement Award for Community Service. A Memorial Service to celebrate Lennart's life will be held Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Connelly-McKinley South Chapel, 4820 Meridian Street, Edmonton. Memorial Donations may be made to the Vasa District 18 Scholarship (c/o/ PO Box 72093, Edmonton, T6B 3A7) or to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (www.albertacancer.ca/memorial) Joan and Sandra express their appreciation and Thanks to the caring staff at St. Joseph's Hospice.
