Obituary

It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Celine Creurer on April 10, 2014 after a lengthy but courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Celine was born on April 17, 1930 on the family homestead near St. Brieux, Sask. to Joseph and Cecile (nee Fagnou) Creurer, the youngest of five children. She attended Lacombe School for ten years, finishing her high school studies at St. Brieux School. Celine moved to Edmonton and worked at “La Survivance”, a French newspaper. After a few years, she found employment with Alberta Labour in the Pension Benefits Branch, retiring in 1992 after 25 years of dedicated service. In retirement, Celine enjoyed volunteer work, gardening, painting, cross-country skiing, traveling and cooking. Throughout Celine’s life family, friends and faith played a very important role. Her generosity, love and friendship will be missed. Due to her illness, Celine moved into the Good Samaritan Southgate Center in March 2005 and resided there until her passing. We would like to thank the staff at Good Samaritan and Dr. Grewal for their compassionate care of Celine during her stay there. We would also like to extend our most heartfelt gratitude to Doris Zimmer, Celine’s dearest friend, who accompanied Celine on every step before and during her illness with incomparable love and support. Doris, you are an angel here on earth!

Celine was predeceased by her parents, her sister Emma LeGatt and her brothers Emile and Arthur.

She will be lovingly remembered by her dear friend, Doris Zimmer, her brother Andre, her sisters-in-law Suzanne Creurer and Jeanne Creurer, her brother-in-law Joseph LeGatt, her 17 nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, April 21, 2014 at St. Agnes Church , 10826-62 Avenue, Edmonton, AB at 10:00 a.m. A second Funeral Mass to be held Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Brieux, Sask. with Most Reverend Archbishop Albert LeGatt, officiating at both masses.

In Loving Memory of
Celine Creurer
