Obituary
On Wednesday, June 12th, 2013 Lois Irene Crouch of Edmonton passed away at the proud age of 83 years. Lois joins her husband of 26 years, Percy, who sadly left us too early in 1978.
Lois is survived by her loving family - daughter Janette Crouch (Terry Roczkowsky); son David (Connie Gibbs); grandsons Kyle Roczkowsky, Graeme Crouch (Amber) and Tyler Shyry (Jill); her sister Myrtle Copeland and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved parents Isabella and Ernest Copeland.
Born and raised in Calgary, Lois worked as a schoolteacher starting in 1949. Lois and Percy moved to Edmonton in 1972 where Lois worked as a substitute teacher and Percy worked at the Esso refinery. She transferred her expertise to become a staff trainer at Woodward's and formed lifelong friendships with a lovely group of people. Lois had a voracious love for reading, for playing Wednesday bridge at Greenfield, and watching golf on TV. Her favourite summer pastime would be to take her lunch and thermos of tea to Hawrelak Park then go for a walk. On Saturday's she would head to Emily Murphy Park to watch the weddings and always, whether there - or in a line-up at the grocery store - find someone to chat with. A special mention to her good friend, Cathy Dux, with whom she shared a true and constant friendship.
Many thanks to the dedicated nurses and doctors on unit 52 at Grey Nuns Hospital for their care and thoughtfulness. A special thanks to Jill Osborn, and Drs. Tran and Hasan for their support and compassion.
Those wishing to pay their respects are invited to do so on Tuesday, June 18th, at 2:00 pm at Connelly-McKinley Funeral Home, 10011 114 St NW, Edmonton. Donations, if desired, may be made in her name to the Alberta Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Edmonton Brain Tumor Foundation.
