Obituary

With immeasurable sadness, the family of John Kirk announce his peaceful passing on October 18, 2012 with his family by his side.

He will be lovingly remembered by his children; Leslie (Noel), Loree (Steve), Rhonda (Karen), Jackie, John Jr. and Lisa (Rob). Also lovingly remembered by his grandchildren; Chris, Kevin, Michael, Ryan, Nicole, Brandon and Megan and their families, as well as 11 great-grandchildren. John was predeceased by his beloved wife, Rita (1993); sisters, Millie, Nancy and Bert and his parents.

John was a master carpenter and craftsman, passionate fisherman, avid hockey fan, an original “recycler”, an expert gardener and tomato grower. John served overseas as a soldier in WWII. He was a thoughtful, introspective man of incredible intelligence and creativity, a true gentleman of the highest integrity who was always kind and considerate. One of his greatest joys was spending time together with his family.

The family wishes to extend their extreme gratitude to the compassionate staff at the 6E Pulmonary Unit in Robbins Pavilion at the Royal Alexandra Hospital and to Dr.’s Ramesh, Melenka and Ferroz for their expert medical care.

As per Dad’s wishes, cremation and a private service for the immediate family will be held.

In lieu of floral tributes, donations in John’s name may be made to the Alberta Lung Association, PO Box 4700 Station South, Edmonton, AB, T6E 6K2 or a Charity of Your Choice.

“Like a giant oak tree covered with apple blossoms is the vast man in you. His might binds you to the earth, his frangrance lifts you into space, and in his durability you are deathless.” Kahlil Gibran

In Loving Memory of
John Kirk
