Obituary

In the immortal words of Martin Luther King “Free at last, free at last, thank God almighty, we are free at last.” After 35 years of living in constant pain, Jerry was granted his wish when he passed away suddenly at home on May 4th at the age of 57 years and today, he is free at last. For 20 of those years, he lived at home under the loving care of his mother Marielle and his brother Ron who provided him with the ability to live on his terms and with dignity, facing each day with strength of spirit and courage. In his younger years, Jerry was employed by the CN, excelled at gymnastics in high school, loved to ride a motor bike, was most often heard singing or whistling a tune, had a quick wit, great sense of humour and loved to debate with whomever would take him on. He was well liked by everyone who knew him and had many friends.

He leaves behind his loving mother Marielle, brother Wayne (Rebecca), sister Marilyn (Don), brother Bernie and brother Ron. In addition, he leaves five nephews, four nieces, one great-niece, five great-nephews and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Jerry was pre-deceased by his father William, his sister-in-law Shannon, and his sister-in-law Dolores.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to Dr. J.E. Bell who was his physician and treated him as a whole person, with compassion and caring, allowing his quality of life to be as good as it could possibly be. Thanks also to all the other medical staff who interacted with Jerry throughout the years.

At Jerry’s request, there will be a private burial of his cremated remains at a later date.

In Loving Memory of
Gerard "Jerry" Krauskopf
