Our family helping your family since 1908 - Generations of Excellence

Frank Fitzgerald

91 years ago, July15, 1920, at the former Edmonton General Hospital on Jasper Avenue, Francis (Frank) Fitzgerald was born to James and Margaret Fitzgerald. He was the baby brother to his sisters, Helen, Genevieve, Marie and Margaret. On a sunny March 29, 2012, encircled by family in his home, he passed away. In 2007, Frank was predeceased by his dear wife Carol, with whom he shared 60 years of marriage. His children, Dennis, Mary Frances (John Nedd), Brian, and Laura (Hal Danchilla), will carry on his legacy of love and service. His grandchildren, Timothy and Adam Brown will hold many memories of their Grandpa, who was their number one fan. He will also be lovingly remembered by family in Canada and the United States. Due to his family history of road and bridge construction Dad knew the history of so many places in Alberta and B. C. Prior to the 2nd World War, 1938-40, Frank was on the Golden Bears and Edmonton Eskimo Football Teams. Frank served with the RCAF, during the latter part of the war, and saw service as a flight-engineer flying Lancaster Bombers in Europe. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. In retirement from self employment with Fitzgerald Construction, Frank and Carol travelled around the world and were frequent snowbirds. Until the age of 89, Frank was a 25 year volunteer driver-pickup and swamper-trainer with the Edmonton Food Bank and completed nearly1000 hours of service joyfully ushering in school field trips to the Imax at the Telus World of Science. He was an arm chair politician, historian , loved people, learning and a good conversation. We will miss his smile. We would like to thank the entire staff of Nurse Next Door, Dr. Boyko, and to all those who, behind the scenes, have contributed to the compassionate palliative care of our Father.

In Loving Memory of
Frank Fitzgerald
