James Crinklaw



On February 15, 2012 James Alexander Crinklaw of Edmonton, Alberta passed away in Grand Cayman as a result of a drowning accident at the age of 56 years. He was the beloved husband of Bernadette (nee Hanrahan), and devoted father to John and Peter; son of the late Murial (nee Park) and late Murray Crinklaw; cherished brother and brother-in-law of Elizabeth (Larry) Armstrong of St Thomas, ON; Sandra (the late Stuart) Jones of Port Stanley, ON; Geraldine and Wayne MacKinnon of Drayton Valley, AB; and treasured son-in-law of Peg (the late Roger) Hanrahan of Mitchelstown, Ireland.

Adored uncle of Roger MacKinnon, Clinton Armstrong, Joyleen (Colin) Clarke, Wade Armstrong, Angela (Michael) Doerksen, Emily Jones, Claire MacKinnon, and Grace Jones, and great-uncle of Mira Clarke.

Jim leaves behind his sisters and brothers-in-law in Ireland, Ailis (Brian) Connaughton, Marjorie (John) Kelly, Mary (Matt) O'Callaghan, Edmund (Sheena) Hanrahan, and Daniel (Mary) Hanrahan; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

Born in St Thomas, ON, he grew up on a farm near the small hamlet of Townline, ON. He graduated from Arthur Voaden Secondary School, and from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay with a Bachelor of Environmental Science. His career as Environmental Planner for ATCO Electric Edmonton spanned 31 dedicated years.

Jim was an avid traveler and photographer who enjoyed playing hockey, curling and touch football with his family. He played piano, violin, guitar and harmonica and had a true tenor voice. He considered himself Scrabble champion of the world. He was an adventurer whose enthusiasm will be sadly missed by all those who loved him.

No formal visitation will be held. A Memorial Mass will take place on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 18407-60 Avenue, Edmonton at 11:00 a.m. A graveside service took place March 1, 2012 at Rosehill Cemetery in Edmonton, AB. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Jimís memory may be made to Canadian Red Cross or Canadian Diabetes Association.
